When it comes to great holiday living, we believe the best spaces don’t stop at the back door.
For Eclectic Escape, the latest renovation by Three Birds Renovations, that belief became the foundation for a collaboration built on shared values: thoughtful design, relaxed living and spaces made to be used.
Located on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Eclectic Escape is a much-loved family beach house. A place shaped by summer rituals, sandy feet and long-held traditions, where the pace slows and everyday routines are left behind.
A Home Ready for a New Chapter
Over time, the home began to show its age. After significant storm damage and years of wear, including internal water damage caused by a fallen tree, it was clear the house needed more than a cosmetic refresh.
The brief called for a complete rethink of how the home worked, not just inside, but beyond its walls. Entertaining was central to how the family lived and holidayed, and the space needed to support that way of life.
A Shared Vision for Holiday Living
At Stilla, we design outdoor structures that do more than store - they create space for living, entertaining and connection. So when Three Birds invited Stilla to collaborate on Eclectic Escape, the alignment was instant.
Together, we set out to extend the renovation outdoors, creating a backyard space that felt just as intentional, functional and inviting as the home itself. A place designed for long afternoons, spontaneous drop-ins and nights spent gathered around the fire.
Where the Renovation Opens Up
While the interior renovation transformed how the house felt, it was the backyard that changed how it was used.
A custom Stilla shed extended the renovation beyond the house, turning an empty yard into a multifunctional space designed for real holiday living. Positioned to anchor the outdoor zone, it helps shape how the family gathers, entertains and unwinds, day and night.
Rather than feeling like an add-on, the shed became an integral part of the home’s layout and lifestyle.
The Shed: Sorrento Cedar Designer Studio
For Eclectic Escape, the outdoor space was anchored by the Sorrento Cedar Designer Studio - part of Stilla’s Designer Studios collection.
This range represents the next evolution of Stilla design. Built on everything we’ve learned over years of creating outdoor structures, Designer Studios are made to feel more like rooms than sheds - spaces that are intentional, refined and built to last.
The Sorrento model was chosen for its balance of form and function. Crafted from premium Western Red Cedar, it brings warmth and natural texture to the backyard while sitting effortlessly within the coastal setting of the renovation. Refined aluminium and glass finishes, increased head height and built-in gutters elevate the structure both visually and practically, creating a studio that feels bigger, brighter and more enduring.
Designed to stand up to Australia’s demanding climate, the Sorrento Cedar Designer Studio is fully weatherproof, lockable and engineered for long-term stability - with the option of a subfloor to suit uneven ground.
Its versatility is what makes it such a natural fit for Eclectic Escape. Whether used as a quiet retreat, a flexible entertaining space or an extension of the home during busy holiday periods, the studio adapts to the way the family lives and hosts.

A Finishing Touch, In Colour
To complete the outdoor space, the Stilla shed was finished in a custom colour developed exclusively for Eclectic Escape. Designed to sit effortlessly within the landscape and complement the renovation as a whole, the colour brings a sense of cohesion and calm to the backyard.
For a limited time, this colour is available across Stilla Designer Studios, offering the opportunity to bring the same considered finish into your own outdoor space.

Inside the Shed
The interior of the Stilla shed is calm, warm and deliberately flexible. Soft wall panelling, natural timber tones and a neutral palette create a welcoming space that feels more like a retreat than a utility structure.
Comfortable seating and thoughtful styling allow the space to adapt easily, whether it’s used for quiet moments alone, hosting friends, or simply taking a pause from the day.

Designed for Real Holiday Living
Eclectic Escape is a reminder that thoughtful outdoor design can transform not just how a home looks, but how it’s lived in.
By extending the renovation outdoors, this collaboration shows how an outdoor structure can become an essential part of everyday life - creating space for connection, relaxation and moments that turn into memories.
